iPhone 3Gs explodes in man’s face, Apple retailer refuses to cover cost of repairs

Another iPhone has exploded in a person’s face. In this incident a New Taipei City resident’s iPhone 3G exploded while he was listening to music. An Apple retailer said the accident was caused by the iPhone’s aging battery and said the user had to cost of repairs.

Kranjska? Krainer? Slovenia, Austria go to war over sausage

Call it Kranjska vs Krainer. Slovenia has applied to the EU’s European Commission for official recognition and protected status for the Kranjska klobasa, or “Krainer Wurst”, a sausage it claims for its own. Slovenia claims the sausage, of which a cheese-filled version known as a ‘kaesekrainer’ is extremely popular in Austria, was invented in Northern Slovenia in the 19th century. Complicating the claim is the fact that Slovenia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time. Should the EU side with Slovenia then Austria would be forced to change the name, much to the chagrin of kaesekrainer lovers in Vienna. Hasbro lawyered up on a fanboy blogger after he posted widely available images of a Nerf gun on his website. Australian Nerf fan boy Martyn Yang reviews Nerf guns on his blog and was contacted by Hasbro, who said they wanted to give him Nerf products as freebies for his readers. In a classic case of bait-and-switch, Hasbro asked the Australian civil servant and webmaster for the blog Urban Taggers to give them his address so they could send him the Nerf products. Once Yang sent them his Canberra address, Hasbro sent its Baker & McKenzie lawyers to serve him papers. Baker & McKenzie investigators later turned up and spooked Yang’s neighbors.
