World Nutella Day vs. Nutella’s own evil lawyers!

Nutella 320

World Nutella Day is back on just days after the fan supported holiday started by Sara Rosso, was shut down by Nutella’s stupid lawyers who apparently hate success. In a spontaneous act of brand suicide, lawyers for Nutella’s parent company, Ferrero, have shut down the World Nutella Day website. What possible reason could they have for doing this? Is the breakfast-condiment world experiencing a Stalinist purge of reactionary fan-originated breakfast recipes? Would Ferrero’s lawyers rather serve a subpoena on rhye than rake in profit from genuine fan support brand buzz? The Daytona Crash of 2013 was truly a sight to behold, especially if you were among 30 fans in the grandstands who were injured in…

BK Challenge: Can you taste the horse meat?!

Burger King Challenge: Can you taste the horse meat?!

Burger King horse meat contamination allegations are putting fast food lovers on edge throughout the U.K. and Ireland. Burger King has admitted that some of its burgers were indeed contaminated with horsemeat. The problems started with a Polish distributor that sent meat to Silvercrest, a food processing plant which supplied Burger King and other companies with their meat. The distributor was swapping out beef with other meats as a filler to create cheaper burgers. According to Burger KIng, their independent DNA test results came back negative for any equine DNA, but samples taken from Silvercrest did show small traces of equine DNA. The fast food chain also stated they have dropped their relationship with Silvercrest….

Food Stamps fuel America’s appetite for junk food

Food Stamps fuelling America’s appetite for junk food

A record 47 million Americans are on food stamps, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as it is formally known. This costs the US federal government $75 billion per year. Is that money being spent wisely? Research from the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University suggests not. A study from the center estimates that as much as $2.1 billion in food stamp money is being spent each year on sugary drinks. Some states have proposed efforts to limit purchases to healthy food. But these efforts have been opposed by Big Candy, Big Soda and Big Food. According to the report “Food Stamps: Follow the Money,” companies such as PepsiCo, Coca-Cola…

50 Shades of Grey provokes brown sauce attack

Man attacks girlfriend for reading 50 Shades of Grey

A British man attacked his girlfriend of five years with HP sauce because she was reading 50 Shades of Grey. He felt the novel was too pornographic. McCormick said the sauce stung her eyes and covered the walls, but she was okay. The judge sentenced Hodgson to a 6pm to 8am curfew for the next six weeks…

Fat Americans 30% of world’s human biomass

Global obesity: Fat Americans 30 percent of world’s human biomass

The global obesity epidemic is officially scary. A new report shows the world’s population is 17 million tons overweight, the equivalent of an extra 242 million people. America is significantly fatter than the rest of the world — the US accounts for only 5 percent of the world’s population but one third of its excess biomass — but other nations are rapidly catching up. If the rest of the world were as fat as America, it would be the equivalent of adding 1 billion average-sized people to the world’s population. “When people think about environmental sustainability, they immediately focus on population,” one of the paper’s authors, Ian Roberts, told the BBC. “Actually, when it comes…

Bloomberg’s soda ban: NYC takes a collective Big Gulp!

Bloomberg’s soda ban: New York takes a collective Big Gulp!

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has proposed a ban on sugary drinks larger than 16oz as part of his ongoing effort to fight obesity in the Big Apple. Defending his proposal, Bloomberg said that obesity is a nationwide problem and New York was “doing something” about it. The ban, which could go into effect as early as March next year, has received a mixed reaction, sparking criticism from some who have labelled Bloomberg’s move more nanny state politics. The ban would take effect in the city’s restaurants, movie theaters and stadiums, but vending machines, grocery stores and newsstands would not. Diet sodas with fewer than 25 calories per 8 oz, fruit juice, dairy and alcohol…
